THE BIR/DMC RADIOLOGY REPORTING "HANDS-ON" TRAINING SERIES: HRCT IN DIFFUSE LUNG DISEASES

This event will provide delegates with “Hands-On” experience of reviewing cases with experts in the field.

Educational aims:

  • To become familiar with common patterns of diffuse lung disease

  • To understand the relationships between radiological patterns and the likely pathological processes

  • To develop a systematic approach to HRCT interpretation in diffuse lung diseases

  • To become familiar with typical and atypical appearances of specified diffuse lung diseases

    In each session, delegates will be asked to review up to 10 case studies. This will be followed by an interpretation session with the experts, during which there will be dedicated time for delegates to pose questions and to interact with tutors.

Thoracic oncology study day

This programme provides an update for radiologists and clinical oncologists involved in lung cancer MDTs. Speakers from a range of disciplines will discuss multifocal bronchogenic adenocarcinoma; ablative techniques and assessment of disease response/follow-up.  Practical advice on established and evolving techniques, including molecular imaging, for assessment of response and the impact of new treatment options on our routine practice will be discussed.

3rd BSTI Lung Nodule Management Workshop

Date: Monday 19th November 2018

BSTI is holding its third comprehensive one-day, hands-on lung nodule management workshop aimed at any radiologist and radiographer reporting thoracic CT.

Focusing on practical implementation of the BTS lung nodule guidelines, the course will interweave short expert-led sessions on the BTS guidelines, nodule malignancy risk prediction calculators and automated nodule volumetry with case review sessions. The hands-on, case-based discussions are used to highlight the various approaches to pulmonary nodule reporting and management as well as their rationale. Each candidate is provided with workstations to review each case before discussion.  The day will finish with a mock multidisciplinary team pulmonary nodule review meeting.

A one day course highlighting the current and potential future management of lung cancer in the UK, including an update on lung cancer screening and optimal clinical pathways with sessions on advanced diagnosis and surgical treatments. There will additionally be an opportunity for trainees to highlight their work in a session dedicated to abstracts.
